In a former East German government guest-house in Berlin, art/fashion magazine 032c has set up an office/store/museum designed by Konstantin Grcic. Amid filigree partitions woven from arrow-shaped cutouts, the space’s debut exhibit contains cryptic maps and posters by Moscow art collective Slavs and Tatars. (They describe themselves as “a faction of polemics and intimacies devoted to an area east of the Berlin Wall and west of the Great Wall of China,” and the members spout fatalist Russian slogans like “You try your best knowing that you will fail."). Joerg Koch, 032c’s founder/editor, will fill the gallery for the next year with art, graphics, and objects related to Near and Middle Eastern cultural shifts, plus product exhibits curated by Grcic.
