Italian designer Giovanni Pagnotta's 3726 lounge chair is constructed of high-modulus carbon fiber, the same material used to produce the stealth jet and space shuttle. Why? Pagnotta simply says, “Carbon fiber is super heroic; super heroes do what others cannot.” Carbon fiber is also at least three times stronger than steel at only 1/3 the weight, keeping the design minimal. Pagnotta's Prototype line was unveiled in May at Issey Miyake's TriBeCa store and includes lamps, trashcans and tables. The chair retails for $1,250. www.giovannipagnotta.com
