Buckminster Fuller used the term ‘trimtab’ to identify a catalyst injected into a failing system at just the right time and place in order to expedite the transition to, well, let’s just say, a better future. The Buckminster Fuller Institute has put out a call for entries in its annual Buckminster Fuller Challenge. The standards they are reaching for might seem a bit intimidating: Concepts must be comprehensive in addressing an issue, anticipatory in their problem solving, ecologically responsible, feasible, verifiable, visionary, regionally specific yet globally applicable, etc., etc. but the award is $100,000 towards the project’s implementation. challenge.bfi.org
