December 5, 2008. Founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli with the intention of innovating, innovating, innovating, plastic furniture legend Kartell is still doing so today. But sometimes it is helpful to look back in order to look forward. At this week’s Design Miami, Kartell selected historic plastic pieces from its award-winning museum’s more than 3,800 products, 15,000 photographs and 5,000 drawings to exhibit at the Miami Design District shop. Among the often no longer produced items showcased were plastic ashtrays, children’s chairs, even a rug beater, along with Joe Colombo table lights and Gino Bartoli designs. No wonder the Guggenheim calls Museo Kartell the best corporate museum around. www.kartell.com
