June 23, 2008. Kudos to the Chinese government for recently banning free plastic bags. A little closer to home, artist Jason Rosenberg has another good idea for how to rehabilitate this little icon of waste: Between June 27 and July 1, during the mini-exhibition “Plastic Bag Happening,” Rosenberg and his sewing machine will be in the second-floor shop Kiosk (95 Spring Street) from 3 – 7 pm daily, turning plastic bags brought to him by customers into objects they won’t want to throw away. A little advice for New Yorkers who’ve used up their entire baggy stash picking up after the dog? The best-looking plastic bags in the city are, guess where: Chinatown. kioskkiosk.com, jason-rosenberg.net
