Now until May 15, RCA product design students will show work under the rubric of Platform 10 at London’s Andaz Hotel, where they used design to create a series of calculated interventions into the experiences of its guests. Called Private View, the show is the department’s third yearly collaboration with the art-oriented hotel. Under the direction of instructors Daniel Charny, Roberto Feo and Gabriel Klasmer, the master’s students began by examining visitors’ interface with both the private and public living spaces at the Andaz, then shot short films to help generate ideas and products for domestic interiors, and finally began to fabricate the prototypes that will be installed in odd nooks throughout the hotel, alongside the films that explain the designer’s process and thinking. After the show comes down, it will travel to DMY Berlin, that city’s leading showcase for young talent. www.platform10.co.uk
