October 22, 2008. Will the chef from De Treeswijkhoeve restaurant be able to design a ‘no screw, no glue’ dish with industrial designer Joost van Bleiswijk? Thus asks the press release for Eat Drink Design (EDD), which is taking place during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven from October 18 to 26. Design studio Moon/en/co and Sot-l’y-laisse created this pop-up restaurant, dinner party series and exhibition in a vacant storefront by pairing seven local chefs with seven designers to create Signature Snacks. They teamed Kiki van Eijk, well-versed in ceramics, with Chef van Groeninge from the restaurant Avant Garde, who bakes his trademark spring chicken slowly in clay. The head of Restaurant 1910 and Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta of Drift applied the designers’ latest production techniques to perishables. During the week, Signature Snacks are available for purchase on Lichtplein Square behind the Design Academy and will be featured on the menus of participating restaurants. Each evening, 16 guests will share a meal served on dishware designed by Mara Skujeniece, drinking from glasses made by Isabelle Scholtemeijer and wiping their mouths with napkins created by Christien Meindertsma, among other tableware designs. Early reservations are recommended, so either telephone +31 40 2366 196 or email info@eatdrinkdesign.nl. eatdrinkdesign.nl
