December 8, 2008. STOREROOM is a pop-up department store, brought to San Francisco’s Upper Fillmore district by CITIZEN:Citizen founder Philip Wood. The temporary 2,000-square-foot, industrial-cardboard-walled retail space opened on December 1 and will run for five weeks. The shop, based on the traditions of the department store combined with the energy of ‘rogue retail’ for which Wood is known, is stocking products from Jimmyjane, Chronicle Books, Areaware, STAACH, Walteria Living, Hulger, Esque and others at storeroom prices. Items available include mercury glass skulls, gold vibrators and coffee table books discounted sometimes as much as 60 percent, with fresh stock added daily.
