Brand of the Day: Covington Yard
Sometimes, people from Northern Kentucky forgo geographical explanations and just say they’re from Cincinnati—but not Durham Studio. The shop, located in Covington, KY, just a two-minute trek across the Ohio River from the Queen City, proudly leans into its heritage … which may be why they’ve done such damn good work for the likes of Sazerac and New Riff Distilling.
As the tagline goes, it’s their “distinctly different” approach that sets them apart, and has won them clients further afield, including Adobe, Bud Light, Dell, New Belgium, Old Spice, and many others, all the while maintaining a focus on the local area that built the studio.
That’s no more the case than with their latest project: Covington Yard, an outdoor food and drink court featuring “a laid-back front-yard vibe with a loaded backyard bar.”
The hub manifests in a series of recycled and renewed shipping containers located in the latest revitalized sector of the city.
As studio founder Austin Dunbar writes, “Everything from the brand, collateral, environment and tone of voice was crafted with a Midcentury nod to those timeless backyard gatherings.”
It’s a typographically driven identity with a refined color palette—marking a place we can’t wait to ship some bourbon to our own palates, hopefully before too long.
