Doctors Without Borders is an international humanitarian organization that brings medical care to people in crisis situations brought on by epidemics, armed conflict, malnutrition, exclusion from healthcare, and natural disasters.
“What I like about Doctors Without Borders is that I am not donating money to a vast organization with a complex set of agendas. This is about sending doctors and nurses to the most desperate scenes of human suffering, and helping people directly, independently from military or religious affiliations. On the one hand, I wanted to show the incredible bravery of this organization’s volunteers in going where help is really needed the most. But on the other hand, I also wanted to show the problem of me, sitting on the other, much more comfortable side of the world. Despite all I see and read in the media, I still have to forcefully remind myself of the terrible amount of human suffering that occurs each day, and that the least I can do is to give some financial support to the people who risk their lives trying to help.”
