Chalk Talk

A chalk talk is a venerable on stage event performed by cartoonists or illustrators. Winsor McCay of Little Nemo fame, was one of the best with his pioneering Gertie the Dinosaur, part drawing, part animation.

This isn’t that kind of chalk talk but rather lettering perfectly drawn to suggest it was done with chalk. It’s what I call “typography parlant,” or type that speaks to its function. This is a great example of this talking typographic phenomenon.
