Design school attended: SVA (School of Visual Arts)

How would you describe your work?

Contemporary visuals stripped down to the core. Keeping a minimal appeal with a splash of color in everything that I create.

Where do you find inspiration?

The 80s, exploring, taking a break from technology, and the little things—whether it be from a conversation that’s long overdue, a song lyric or new food.

Who are some of your favorite designers or artists?

Sagmeister & Walsh, RoAndCo, Saul Bass, Tess Guinery, David Carson, Dan Cassaro, Tuesday Bassen and loads more.

Do you have a favorite among all the projects you’ve worked on?

My favorite projects are the ones where clients let me have free range on the creative and trust in my vision. I always enjoy personal projects as well to experiment and try out new things.

A personal project of Lok’s

Is there a project that stands out to you as having been the biggest challenge of your career so far?

Each project has a challenge to overcome in the beginning, a few might take longer than others to sort out.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?

To keep evolving as a designer and hopefully inspire others. (And hire a few corgis)

What’s your best advice for designers today?

Get a little uncomfortable with things and dive into the unknown. [You’ll] be surprised with what you’ll achieve. It’s OK to say no to projects. Find your voice in whatever medium it may be.
