Elephant Stool

Born 50 years ago (the same year as I.D.), Sori Yanagi’s Elephant Stool was the first of its kind made entirely of plastic. This rerelease from Vitra substitutes injection-molded polypropylene for the original fiberglass-reinforced polyester. So while it’s still lightweight (4.2 lbs.), compact (19 in. around), and affordable ($95), the piece is now also Earth-friendly. www.vitra.com
