Springtime for Posters and Germany
Here are some printers’ advertisements from the early years of World War I. Posters were big business during wartime. Despite the indictment that Germany lost the propaganda war against England, the output was nonetheless extraordinary, and all the major artists/designers were conscripted, like Louis Oppenheimer (below, top). Here are a few of their ads and a poster (below, bottom) in Halloween orange.
