Italian education is pretty good. Partly because the publications used by students are so appealing. From textbooks, like the 1945 Aritmetica (below) to the wonderful Fascist era quaderni used for writing lessons and tests. The quaderno below (commemorating the Italian navy) is filled with handwritten notes for a class on minerals.
