Old Words From the New Age

A few years ago, I was asked by Project ProjectsAdam Michaels to contribute a 1988 interview I did with Quentin Fiore, designer and co-author with Marshall McLuhan of War And Peace in the Global Village and The Medium is the Massage, among other experimental books. It was issued as a supplement to their important title The Electric Information Age Book, about the frequency during the late ’60s and ’70s in small-yet-content-rich paperback books. It is a rich and thoughtful history of this decade of books. Although Fiore was appropriately covered in the book, the interviews by me and J. Abbott Miller (for an article in EYE) and commentary by historian Jeffrey T. Schnapp were saved for the supplement, which now can only be obtained as a PDF online here.

If you are a student or simply interested in the days before computers when type, image and text were elements of an information age evolution, you’ll find both the book and PDF a useful supplement to your own research.
