THIS NEW degree in design writing criticism, starting in October 2009, is the first course of its kind offered in Europe. In particular, the program seeks to define the fundamentals of design and criticism with a special focus on multicultural perspectives and rhetoric. Strongly rooted at the intersection of journalism and the visual arts, this program makes use of the school’s Postgraduate Research Methods program to further critical thinking and investigation as applied to design. Culminating in a student-initiated major project, the program “builds upon an understanding of contemporary writing and critical practices, but also looks toward the future for an emerging design discipline,” explains professor and course director Teal Triggs.
