Seymour Chwast: Champion of Left-Handed Designers Everywhere
In 1985, Abrams published the very first monograph of legendary illustrator Seymour Chwast, The Left-Handed Designer.
Today is International Left-Handers Day, so we’re revisiting the book’s six-panel jacket, featuring left hands at work across time, as well as some of the illustration from within.
As Chwast writes in the book’s introduction, “I’ve always been left-handed. Although my mother would deny it, she tried to get me to use my right hand more often, because it was considered a handicap—and evidence of being a little odd. However, being odd gave me a terrific excuse for being an artist.”
Here’s to the left-handers.
