Here’s a couple of sweet little ideas that have popped up in separate areas of the web, but carry similar notes inside them, which I found interesting: a little iOS video game called Faraway that’s coming soon, and a series of tiny engines from Hermann Böhm.
Do you see the common threads in them? They’re intimacy and craftsmanship over visually archaic methods of design, making simple ideas work beautifully and so personally in skilled hands. Less skilled craftspeople would bork it up. Just look.
Faraway is coming to iOS in the fall of this year, and Böhm’s tiny engines are available for sale at his online shop. there are videos aplenty for both objects; all gorgeous.
