Weekend Heller: Storytellers, Entrepreneurs, Ideas, Vignelli
Students Exhibit Visual Storytelling and Entrepreneurship
Two SVA Masters (MFA) exhibits sharing the Visual Arts Gallery in the Helmsley Building are open for business.
Also on view the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay exhibition, Bad Habits, is probably the most exciting illustration show I’ve seen in years. The work, which must tell or add up to a story, is varied, intelligent and beautiful. View some of it on the web here, but you’ll better enjoy the total experience at the Visual Arts Gallery.
For the New Museum Ideas City festival, desigNYC will present a selection of recent and current Lower East Side-focused projects, including the almost-ready-to-go lobby renovation by Steve Hoffman’s dba studio in collaboration with Berheimer Architects for the Lower East Side People’s Credit Union, a community bank that serves low-income, mostly Latino clients in the East Village.
A video produced for Mohawk’s “What Will You Make Today?” series has Massimo Vignelli discussing his approach to book design. Video by Michael Bierut/Pentagram.
