Weekend Heller: Guess Who’s Coming To Diner
I fell in love with John Baeder’s diner paintings when I was a wee art director. His hyper realism was not just a trend but a means of documenting what has indeed become lost. His most recent exhibit of pictorial genius opened on November 1. It is a must see (I only wish he were there to see it too but cannot make the opening).
The Bernarducci Gallery, NYC, presents paintings and watercolors of American roadside diners. He is also the subject of a 271 page monograph, John Baeder’s Road Well Taken by Jay Williams, featuring his paintings that capture this particular slice of Americana.
