What a Dirty Mind

Michael Bierut had it right on Design Observer when he predicted that “No Snickering: The Road Sign that Means Something Else,” datelined Crapstone, England, would be “the most e-mailed story in the history of The New York Times.” The story highlighted (in the A1 section no less) such snicker-fodder as Butt Hole Road (above) and Penistone (pronounced pen-i-stone). Those British!! It got me to thinking that we have some equally unmentionable town names in the good ol’ U.S.A. Of course, there’s Middlesex in Jersey and New York, but do you know about Blue Ball and Intercourse, Pa.?
What are some of the quirky locales in your neck of the woods?
