The Museum of Modern Art iPhone app is now available, and free! First off, full disclosure, I work for MoMA. Secondly, I did not work on this app, our brilliant digital media department expertly crafted it (Spencer Kiser doing the real heavy lifting).
What I find most interesting about this app is its simplicity aiding in my discovery. The MoMA app, right now, does not have too many extras that don’t already exist on MoMA.org. But embarrassingly, within one minute of playing with the app, I began discovering more about our design collection than I ever did on a desktop or laptop computer. Call it intimacy (or design) but something made me dig, and in digging I found my new five favorite typographic pieces in MoMA’s collection (this list will change, as it often does, as I keep exploring).
