Print has been covering typography since the days when you needed a flatbed to haul a new font from place to place.

Now, as we approach our 75th anniversary, we’re launching an all-new competition: Print’s Typography and Lettering Awards.

Whether you design your own typefaces, design type-centric pieces or create fascinating handlettered projects, we want to see your work—and so do our brilliant judges, letter designer and design historian Paul Shaw, and letterer and illustrator Jessica Hische. (Stay tuned for more from both!)

What’s in it for you?

  1. The very best entries will be featured in Print magazine.

  2. All winners will be featured in an exclusive online gallery promoted in Print’s design newsletter (which reaches nearly 80,000 subscribers), and on Print’s social media accounts (reaching more than 675,000 followers).

  3. All winners will receive a prize pack of design books from Print’s official online store, MyDesignShop.com, a subscription to Print magazine and a year-long membership to HOW U and HOW U Video.

For entry information and the rest of the scoop on the competition, check out our official competitions page—and don’t forget to enter by October 31 to grab our early bird discount.

(Now, lest we forget our typographic roots, from the pages of Print, here’s a fascinating look back at how type was made in 1952 …)
