Seeing Spots

Tamar Cohen sees spots–and makes them too. Well polka dots, actually. The two life-long passions that drive her work are “my love of polka dots,” she told me, “and my ongoing enthusiasm for vintage paper ephemera and books. I use collage and silkscreen to combine and juxtapose the two, creating a dynamic visual world of layered contrasts.” Her engagingly graphic prints can be found on her website. But she also will be in a group exhibition opening on August 14 to 26 at Gallery Ehva, 74 Shank Painter Road, Povincetown, Mass. For those who cannot make it, some examples are here. Just avoid looking directly at the sun and then the prints.
