And I probably will. I love books of quotations. And the quotations books I love are thematic and illustrated. And the best illustrated thematic quotation books were done in the primordial early twentieth century. Take this one, “From Art to Zoo,” created and designed by the Profile Press of New York (1948).
Paul A. Bennet wrote about the thick spiral-bound book with illustrated title pages by Russell Hoban: “Aside from its pleasurable interest, this keepsake is an index of ability—the ability of the Profile Press to present an idea in graphic form.” But even more than that it is a taste of wisdom before Twitter. Below are a few such. But here is a gem: “An atheist is a man who has no invisible means of support.”
