The Pre-Vinylettes’ Suffragette Centennial is On
The Pre-Vinylettes are a group of women, trans and post-binary creatives who celebrate diversity in all its forms in what is typically a male-dominated field: sign painting and lettering.

In 2017, they hosted an international showcase at the Chicago Art Department, and now they’re back with The Pre-Vinylettes’ Suffragette Centennial, “a call to action to continue the necessary work of protecting and advancing the rights of all marginalized people.”
The show, set for Portland’s Ford Gallery from Sept. 26–Oct. 25, will feature the sign painting of more than 65 participating artists.
Presented by The Gentle Revolution, the opening reception will be streamed online on social media, and an online gallery will feature the work for sale. Murals in Portland and Brisbane celebrating women in sign painting and beyond will mark the opening, and a virtual panel gathering will take place during the show’s run.
We got a sneak peek at some of the items from the exhibition. As with the first convocation, they do not disappoint.
