So! Why should you enter?
Well, you get a heck of a lot of bragging rights when these judges select your work to appear in the RDA. And then, of course, there’s the fact that:
PRINT publishes your work and presents it to the world. From among thousands of entries, our judges select more than 300 of the best designs in the U.S. to be spotlighted in our annual, giving winners unparalleled industry visibility. We believe deeply in the work we curate and publish, and shout it from the rooftops as fully as we can, from a variety of channels.
Complete coverage. In 2017, the RDA will once again feature an expanded page count to give the competition its full due. Moreover, our judges will once again each select a Best of Region winner, and PRINT will profile the project and its creators.
The RDA honors all forms of design. Our categories include annual reports, brochures/catalogs, book jackets/covers, environmental graphics, illustration, photography, invitations/announcements, letterheads, logos, packaging, posters, ads, editorial and book design, self-promotions, wearables, information graphics, web design and multimedia. No matter what you design, there is a place for it in the RDA.
A level playing field. Anyone can enter the RDA, and everyone competes on an equal plane—from small firms to major corporations to independent designers. The best designs win the day, leading many to have their work discovered, accelerating careers and attracting new clients.
This year, for the very first time in the competition’s 35+ year history, students can enter. After being asked for years, we have finally decided to host a special student section of the RDA. Get your work—and yourself—on the map!
HOW Design Live! Readers will vote for their favorite Best of Region entry, and the Grand Prize Winner will receive a Big Ticket to HOW Design Live (up to a $2,295 value), a main-stage trophy presentation celebrating their work, and other exclusive opportunities on-site.
Nobody does it like us. The RDA is an annual yearbook of American design excellence. Moreover, it is the only comprehensive survey of design broken down by region, highlighting distinct geographic trends and styles.
Ready to go? Enter by the extended deadline on May 8!. And for a solid dose of inspiration, check out the winners of our 2016 RDA.
