Law enforcement uses a variety of paper and board targets when pistol training. The idea is not always to hit the kill zone but to incapacitate an attacker. Such training is necessary to maintain strict shooting protocols.
Still, there is something eerie about targets being adult human shapes and forms. Although some targets are more abstracted, the majority are silhouettes in black, blue and orange.
And too often when a person becomes a real target, the shooter doesn’t see a human being but a shape with concentric circles around its middle.
