The Eden typeface was designed in 1934 for Ludlow by Robert Hunter Middleton (1898 – 1985) who, among his 80 signature faces, designed Stencil (1938). The Eden font, however, is dedicated to that famous garden where apples were alluringly red and snakes passionately slithered.

Like a film prop the advertising specimens in this booklet of sinful type are invented by the Ludlow foundry. Beautiful replicas seduced type directors and production managers into specifying the two weights of Eden.
