The Polish artist and designer Stasys Eidrigevicius, who has been featured a number of times on the Daily Heller, has a doppelgänger—or better yet, what he describes as a Russian copier (Rosyjski kopista). Copying may be the greatest form of flattery, but borrowing is problematic. Once, twice, three times an influence, but more than that. … Learning from and copying the technique of a master is part of the artistic tradition, but this dossier that Stasys has assembled raises questions. Let’s hope that as part of Putin’s recent expansionism, Russia is not also attempting to annex intellectual property.
