Caleb Neelon is a frequent contributor to Print, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him on articles ranging from profiles of famed graffiti artist Greg Lamarche, to retrospectives of the design studio Friends With You, to his most recent piece about Shepard Fairey’s arrest in Denver during the Democratic National Convention.

Now, he’s got his own book out called Caleb Neelon’s Book of Awesome (Gingko Press), which goes into detail about his travels through Sao Paulo, Kathmandu, and Berlin, as well as his introduction and obsession with graffiti, and how much he enjoys teaching kids. In April, he’ll have a two-man show with Mike Shine at White Walls gallery in San Francisco, which just so happens to be Caleb’s favorite city in America and maybe the world. A couple of weeks ago, we sat at our computers long enough to talk about the book, our favorite cities, and assorted other topics. (He’s in yellow.) Here’s how the conversation went down.
