What separates great typography from good typography is often last—the 5% of the design process that gives the design a refined, distinguished and finessed look.

Monotype and Dan Rhatigan, former researcher, type designer and Type Director for Monotype, will share his expertise on the subject of great typography in the webinar, Finely Tuned Typography: Sweating the Small Stuff, on June 29, 2016, at 1 pm EDT.

This webinar is a must-attend for all typography nerds as Rhatigan will discuss the history behind glyphs, particularly the OpenType features of ligatures, contextual alternates, small caps and number styles, and what motivated the creation of the glyphs. He’ll also detail how these tweaks in your typography will affect your overall design so you can make the optimal decisions when designing.

Rhatigan’s work and expertise has been praised within the design industry. He worked as a designer and typographer for 15 years in Boston and New York before moving to England in 2006 for graduate school at the University of Reading. He now lives in New York City again, where he works as an independent type designer and consultant.
