We all know Lil Nas X from his famously overplayed and downright catchy song “Old Town Road.” While that song has finally been taken out of circulation, there’s sure to be yet another hit to follow suit from his new album Montero.

The album drops on September 17, and while this cover art doesn’t feature twelve pregnant emojis, it does induce the same sense of awe and wonder for the more profound meanings behind it.

Lil Nas X’s latest album cover features everything from rainbow orbs, holographic water droplets, delicate butterflies, gorgeously detailed Greco-Roman architecture, neon-pink trees, luscious grass, and most notably, a nude Lil Nas X either floating or falling in the center of it all.

Furthermore, if you look closely, you’ll find another depiction of the artist in the bottom right corner, thought to be inspired by Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam.” Artist John Stephens’s piece Genesis II inspires the cover art, and when compared side by side, the similarities between the two are beyond notable.

Lil Nas X quoted, “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day, God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day, he rested from all his work” on his Twitter account, proving the spirituality within the album.

Oh, he was also inspried by SpongeBob SquarePants.

While Lil Nas X’s album might take the spiritual route, it doesn’t put the artist above poking fun at others. Yesterday, Lil Nas X posted an image reminiscent of Drake’s latest album cover featuring 12 pregnant men emojis with the caption “MONTERO” THE ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 17, 2021.”

Folks have already started creating spoofs of Montero’s cover; for example, one Twitter account has replaced Lil Nas X’s naked body with a bowl of chicken soup.
