Stua, based in Astigarraga, Spain, designs Scandinavian-style furniture “with a Mediterranean touch,” says Jesus Gasca, who founded the company in 1983. This past December, the sleek and spicy products were assembled in Stua’s first shop, in a 19th-century building near Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum. Under the Beaux Arts roof are Gasca’s Globus chairs ($145 in polypropylene) and Gas chairs (left; $325 in plastic, with arms). The slatted Malena chair and sofa (foreground; $965-$1,775 and $1,965-$2,700) and Summa, a tray table that is also an occasional chair ($260), were designed by his son Jon. The younger Gasca also designed the interior, with black steel floors, white fringe curtains, and a shifting spectrum of light. Shown too: Deneb coffee and high table (background; $465-$825 and $565-$1,135), and Sapporo, a modular storage system (right; $430-$2,045), all by Jesus. Stua Shop, c.
