On display at the Japan Society Gallery through January 11 is New Bamboo: Contemporary Japanese Masters. Taking forms that are a biomorphic or industrial mix of sculpture, furniture and architectonics are more than 90 lacquered, steam-bent, woven, extruded, caned and ropy objects crafted by contemporary Japanese artists. Even Zaha Hadid could learn a thing or two from these guys. japansociety.org
