Phaeton

Volkswagen AG's new luxury sedan, the Phaeton, takes its name from Greek mythology;"phaeton" translates to – the shining one. The sleek, sophisticated car, which debuts at the Geneva auto show in March, lives up to its name with curves reminiscent of the Beetle, the roominess of a four-door sedan and the distinct feel of a luxury car. Although currently in production at VW's new Dresden plant, Phaeton won't land on U.S. soil until 2003, and cost is estimated at $45,000 or higher. www.vw-online.de
