I received an interesting request the other day: “Can you find and do you remember the cartoon with the caption, ‘And bring some shit for my fly.'” Of course I did–it was one of the classics from the late B. Kliban, a master gag cartoonist who became rich selling Kliban’s Cats but became famous with such absurdities as the fly cartoon and others in the National Lampoon. Sadly, he passed away in 1990 at age 55 at the height of his catmania. I still have his books (published by Workman) and calendars. After laughing my guts out, I decided it was time to rediscover him for those of you who never experienced the mother lode of Klibaniania, which includes this site. (And for those who cannot read the balloon above: “I’ll have the gazpacho, leeks vinaigrette with shrimp, marinated zucchini, orange mousse, a bottle of Cotes du Rhone Rouge ’59. And bring some shit for my fly.”)
