One of the best–but least known–avant-gardists of the early 20th century is Karel Tiege, the Czech author, poet, editor, designer, and “new” typographer. While some books of his work exist, the more flush among you may be interested to know that the rare bookseller Antiquariaat J. A. Vloemans in the Hague is offering Tiege’s original book covers, periodicals, and books in their current catalog. If you want to learn more, check out the Grey Art Gallery exhibit, or go here for more Czech book covers. And for even more Tiege, try this video look at his ABECEDA FotoTypography book.

Who are some other form-giving typographers from this period who deserve greater acknowledgement? Tell me in the comments!
