Furthermore, founded in 1995, is a unique form of philanthropic support for nonfiction publishing that has given grants to nearly 1,000 publication projects—for writing, research, design, illustration, editing, indexing, printing and binding, and more—of over $5 million. Its Alice Award, inaugurated in 2013, awards $25,000 to a book previously supported by Furthermore that represents excellence in all aspects of the work—from idea to design to quality of production. The Alice will be presented by Furthermore’s founder, Joan K. Davidson, at the Frick Collection on Oct. 27.
The Alice for 2015 is awarded to APERTURE for the book The Open Road: Photography & the American Road Trip by David Campany, edited by Denise Wolff.
