Type Tuesday: Workfolk Imitates the Nostalgic, Hand- Painted Look of Service Signs

Posted inTypography

Milwaukee designer, illustrator, and art director Jim Kennelly designed Workfolk, a typeface inspired by the tactile nature of manual labor. This highly humanistic design features mismatched weighting within each letter’s vertical and horizontal strokes. The resulting effect is a nostalgic, small-town comfort reminiscent of hand-painted service signs or vintage dairy bottle packaging.
